OTEC 2019 Keynote Speaker, Aron Ralston, inspired and engaged OTEC participants
Fearless adventurer Aron Ralston, subject of the inspiring film 127 Hours, was OTEC 2019 Luncheon Speaker.
Growing up in Ohio and Indiana before moving to Colorado with his family in 1987, Aron Ralston had little exposure to the wild outdoors. A mechanical engineer by trade, here’s an ordinary man pushed to extraordinary limits, Aron Ralston took the OTEC audience inside the story that captured international headlines in which he proved that courage, perseverance and the human spirit triumph over tough challenges when the stakes are extraordinary.
An experienced climber and avid outdoorsman, Aron was canyoneering alone in Utah when he became trapped between two boulders in a remote location for more than five days, ultimately freeing himself by severing his own arm with a pocketknife. His harrowing tale captivated global news outlets and remains one of the most incredible and extreme survival stories of all time.
Aron recounted his ordeal in searing detail in his New York Times best-selling book, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, which inspired the major motion picture, 127 Hours, starring James Franco.
As OTEC's keynote speaker, he brought his gripping story to life. With great candor and humility, Aron reflected on his remarkable triumph over insurmountable odds and shared the lessons he learned about the importance of examining one’s priorities and outlook on life.
OTEC attendees got to meet Aron who offered to graciously sign copies of his book.
